dnis are evitonmental storytelling because you can instantly imagine the incomprehensible hellscape someone is trapped in if they have a dni that’s like dni if you:
- think irish people can’t be pan
- are an apologist for season 2 scrunklepus or the knights of glop
- hunt and kill people for sport
- play frunko’s quest
- think movies always have to be slimy
- think it’s okay for welsh people to cosplay flugson
- don’t tag bibbles or togs
- think that dutch and samoan are the same nationality
- use the z-slur
- participated in the srebenica massacre
- are mutuals with steve
this notion that if you’re an adult still on tumblr it’s bc something is wrong doesn’t sit right with me… unfortunately I can’t refute it bc there is something wrong with me
gender neutral alternative to “guys” is absolutely “chat” i’m not taking questions
white guy in a LIBERAL horror movie: “hey chat you might want to take a look at this”
Biblically accurate Hatsune Miku
Yeah, sure, I’ll reblog that.
About seven years ago now… I had one of my pain management doctors try to push a spinal cord stimulator on me as a way of managing my chronic pain, bc ofc everyone is just terrified of people like me who need opioid painkillers forever.
And I very clearly remember thinking that the company name sounded ridiculous, like a parody name made up for a TV show. “Nuvestra.”
I declined, and they got really shitty with me about not wanting a device installed in my back that was, you know, relatively new. They started giving me shit about getting my painkillers, just making things more hostile and unpleasant, and eventually I switched doctors bc of insurance reasons and that was fine bc at that point they were so awful that having to find another doctor was less awful.
So… I just read an article which mentioned in passing that the company went bankrupt in 2019 & patients can not get any support for their devices anymore. Lots of patients are just… stuck with non-working devices installed in their backs, or having to undergo more trauma to have them removed.
And I’m just like… ah yes, this is how ancient sailors felt, watching a giant shape pass by underneath their tiny little boats.
The feeling of having dodged something horrible bc I just thought to myself, “you know, I just don’t trust this, and I don’t like when doctors get pushy like this,” is pretty profound.
A good friend with RSD/CRPS has an orphaned pain pump implant in her abdomen that has a dying battery. She know the battery is dying because once an hour it let’s out an ear splitting chirp to remind her to change the battery. The surgeon who did the implant retired years ago and she’s struggling to find another who will remove it without implanting another brand.
The battery has been dying for 4 years now.
… holy shit.
Im not a parent, but I know that so many issues with kids misbehaving could be solved by giving them a simple task to complete instead of just yelling “stop” until they cry
Over the summer I went to an art museum with my S/O and their son (age 10). The son wasn’t as engaged as we’d hoped, but also we probably should have known.
He whined about and my S/O said “we went to legoland for you, this is for us adults” which is fine, but that didn’t stop him from whining about.
Immediately jumping into teacher mode, I pulled out my notebook and a pen and I said “hey, every time we stop to look at a painting for a while, I want you to draw it.” He didn’t draw a single picture. I showed him how to do it, still didn’t draw a single picture…but he also stopped whining. He couldn’t complete the task, but his focus was taken away from “I don’t want to be here” and was transferred to “what does this image look like? how can i draw this”
It doesn’t always work, but it teaches kid to channel energy and focus instead of wondering what “stop” means. Because “stop” really means “do something else”.
Living in 2022 be like
